Sephora Announces its Biggest CBD Beauty Partnership to Date

10th January 2020

Sephora, one of the largest and most successful global beauty retailers, has never been shy of embracing the CBD beauty trend. Its stores around the world began stocking brands like Lord Jones, as early as 2018. But Sephora’s latest partnership with start-up, Saint Jane, is its biggest to date.

The CBD beauty brand, Saint Jane, was started by the company’s CEO and founder, Casey Georgeson, less than a year ago. Having named the company after the patron Saint of healing, Georgeson aims to use it to help provide more opportunities for women in the industry. The CBD used int Saint Janes’s products is sourced from sustainable and female-owned farms in the US.

Saint Jane lived in the 1500s, in France. She was anointed to Sainthood for her work to heal vulnerable individuals, shunned by French society at the time. Her patients were primarily women.

However, Georgeson also told Forbes that the name is a play on the popular slang term for Cannabis – ‘Mary Jane’:

“It has a double meaning for the innocent side of ‘Mary Jane,’ too, because I always wanted CBD to be the hero ingredient.”

Every batch of CBD used in the beauty products is tested for purity and potency, by a third party lab. Included in the brand’s product catalogue is the Luxury Beauty Serum, Luxury Body Serum, and Microdose Lipglosses. The Luxury Beauty Serum is said to have the highest CBD concentration in a serum available on the market (500mg).

Despite being less than a year old, the CBD beauty brand is already stocked by Credo, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue, in addition to Sephora. The CBD-based formula is enhanced with more than 20 additional botanicals, including rosehip and pomegranate.

Founder Casey Georgeson claims:

“It’s a molecule not a miracle, and depending on what it’s paired with, it works even better.”

Saint Jane products will initially be launched in 171 stores, across 22 states in the US, and online. However, there are currently not any plans to launch the brand internationally.
